Next time during the exam, FLIP THE DAMN QUESTION PAPER OVER, Nida Chinoy!

On that fateful, warm, summery morning of August 26 2009, when we had our Monetary Theory and Policy final, we had stayed up all night pulling an all nighter, we had rattofied all the handouts (well by all i mean the ones with the simpler terms), we had called anyone we could from our class on the last minute to find out the answer to the question the teacher said was coming for SURE in the final, WE HAD EVEN UNDERSTOOD THE TRUE MEANING OF DEMAND FOR REAL MONEY BALANCES FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Yes, we had done it all!

Anyway, the next morning, we were set..determined that life would be much happier on the other side of this exam..when we could watch 30 episodes of Big Brother without a care in the world forever..and by forever i mean Thursday as we have another final coming up on Sunday but THAT'S BESIDE THE POINT. Yes, we found happiness in 30 episodes of Big Brother, season 3 of How I Met Your Mother and a few random scenes from Jab We Met just in passing.

Exam time. We get the paper. We're happy as one of us knows question one perfectly (ME!) and we successfully do what we do best right under Moochar's very nose! We're feeling good! We move onto question two..it's not bad..I get stuck on part (b) Nida knows it very well..she's excited, she's confident (for more reasons than just acing the question as we shall soon find out those other reasons) She excitedly starts whispering the answer to me..I jot most of it down but too late Moochar sweeps her paper up and moves her seat. Brilliant! Anyway, i proceed. I get done with the first four questions on the first side, then FLIP the paper and attempt the three other questions. I look over at Nida in the other row, she smiles, gets up and is the first one to leave the exam hall AT ELEVEN. One whole hour before the paper ends. I'm curious..but i let it slip. She does write fast. And she loves Big Brother more than I do.

We meet after the paper and I ask her:
"So how was question 5? I didn't do so well in that one"
Blank stare.
"There was a question 5?!"
"Uh..yeah.."
"You're serious?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"
"Yeah! There was question 5, 6, 7 on the otherside..You didn't..?"
"OMGGOMGOMGOMGOOMGHHSJJSKSKDJFJFOMGOMGOMGOMGDHD...*and some other stuff i couldn't comprehend*"

So now enter the Sharukh Khan of this story. The hero who saves the day, who brings a smile to every face with each time he fluffs his hair, the guy who made Post Keynesians heroes in the eyes of people who thought Maynard Keynes was a relative of Maynard James Keenan..Yes the best teacher CBM will ever offer..
*drum roll*
Mirza Aqeel Baig.
We rush into the examination hall, trying to talk to him when we have a rude encounter with Moochar. Nida snubs him (finally something she did during the day she was proud of) Still, Nida is choking, tears filling those tender, brown eyes..I could still see them behind the oval shaped glasses. Aqeel Baig tells us all will be well when we speak to him. He is a saint, he is a hero, he is Jon Bon Jovi to me and Salman Khan to Nida. He laughs whole heartedly while Nida is still choking..I'm relieved. I believe Aqeel Baig in an instant. Still obviously you'd need more convincing too if your butt was on the line..but he manages to reassure Nida and we leave with peace in our hearts.

Moral of this story is quite simple: INSTEAD OF FLIPPING YOUR HAIR, FLIP THE DAMN QUESTION PAPER NEXT TIME AND DO BOTHER ATTEMPTING THE OTHER HALF OF THE FINAL QUESTION PAPER, NIDA CHINOY! THANKYOU.
